Beggar An Ode

This poem is dedicated to all the people out there reading this blog who dont believe in themselves and feel that they are inferior to others . My dear friends , unfortunately , you dont believe in yourselves and i hope that when u do finish reading this poem , u may understand that , you can do in this world whatever you want .

In this poem I talk about a beggar who doesnt have hands nor limbs - a state where most of us would lose all hope . However this beggar , doesnt lose heart in himself and goes through the tough times in his life only to be revered by everyone on earth . The poem goes such -:

Beggar

O thou beggar ! Lyin in the street
Be thou none can beat
Without limbs nor sense
may you go to all the benches
Collecting in your hat , penny by penny
Enough so you may live on bread and honey

At first you may have many lows
and to the whole world thou bows
The sun rises and sets for many years
Thence people will know you have no fears
As no gesture nor sound will bother you
Nor will thy bother on the absence of a sou

From pity to mercy and then respect
This is what from people you will get
Mighty Kings seeing you will be awed
As they would be on seeing God
Alas! there comes the time for the world to mourn
A man, who in the dictionary 'an urchin' would be known .

Outshadowed

This is a very common experience for most of us out there . I am sure all of you must have at some point of time ,have felt this way when someone who has done nothing gets all the credit , the praise and the recognition from the people around him and you , who has done the donkey'[s work and worked your heart out gets nothing or with luck probably just an odd mention in the small and tiny print .

Artists and writters for centuries have gone through such times not just for weeks , months or years but go unnoticed until death part them . It is only after their deaths that people actually look at them 'seriously' and thus the work many-a-genius in many-a-field goes unrespected . If some of you paid attention to your history classes , you may remember that inspite of the fact that the present day arabic numerals , algebra , etc were actually invented by Indian scholars , few historians acknowledge and often credit these inventions to those in the west . As history is often rewritten by the victors ,happening of early years changes course over time . Therefore we arrive at a paradox wherein ; How can the happenings of the past change ???

If the past is uncertain , then why are we told that history repeats itself ? When is christopher columbus credited with the discovery of America , why are the rest of his crew aboard the ship not credited with the same discovery ? Thus how much in those fat history text books is really true and how much is fibbed and where do we draw a line ! If you believe that such was the thing of the past and is not true in today's 'civilised' you are not only misguiding yourself but are also blind to the world .

In any important international crisis such as global warming or nuclear issues , why is it that it is only the word of the G7 nations that stands and the word of nations like Uganda and Somalia which dont ? Moreover every independent nation which is not part of this elite group has to abide by the word of those G7 nations . In a world which ironically stands for peace , human rights and democracy isnt this just dictatorship in the crudest sense of the word ? Not only are the basic foriegn policy of these countries ignored , they are at times violated and there is not a damn thing they can do about it . Their soveriegnity and integrity is lost even if they believe it to be there with them .

Ultimately , the only conclusion which you can draw from all this is what Darwin says -'its the survival of the fittest'. Only those beasts will remain which deem themselves to be strong. In the political jungle it's only those nations which are strong both militarily and intellectually who will rule the other beasts and will be the 'big brother' to the rest of the world. The King of the jungle in literal sense will be outshadowed by the elephant and yet it the lion to which the elephants submits to !!

Its the darkest before dawn ....

Well I am certain that most of you out there reading this blog would have for sure heard of this adage . This is what aptly describes the tension before you see your marks in the CBSE examination . At this time when i am writting this blog , the 12th standard results for the chennai and Ajmer regions have been declrared . For the rest of the country , the 12th class results are due tomorrow and soon after the 10th results will be given .

At this moment of time , as one of the many examinees , I am totally nervous . The main reason for this nervousness is because this is the first time I have ever attempted a public examination . How will the corrections be ? Will there be any grave mistake in the correction ? such are the questions which loom over me and till the results are out , I will not know the answers . I have written the examinations over 2 months back and therefore even when i try to judge the marks I may get , ofcourse my estimate wont be correct and unfortunately I know this . Adding to the tension is the constant reminder from both family and friends that the results are going to be out .... "for god's sake, I know this "

Keeping my fingers crossed I hope for the best . There is nothing I or any other student who has written the exam can do . Pray to god , that is all you can do and since that is the only thing you and I can do then 'DO IT WE MUST'

Democracy - IS IT FAILING ?????

Where can I express my bloody opinion these days . In this world of over 4 billion people , everybody wants to have a say . People turn to the internet to say what they have to say and yet their 'valuable' opinions are scarce read if not implemented to a great extent . Having a blog - yeah thats what they turn to and yet most often , the only people reading their blogs are they themselves .

But what does the crap i have written have anything to do with democracy . Well let me type some more shit , which will infact bore you immencely and tell yo why !!!

Democracy is elected government - Atleast that is the popular notion . But one often forgets that democracy also means the right to freely express yourself - stand in the elections and fight for a public cause such as that of poverty , unemployment , child labour blah blah blah . So if people wish to this , then they will have to express their opinion and in todays corrupted world where it is cash which talks for itself , an honest and earnest worker has his tongue cut of . Thus , we arrive finally to my point - in a long and winding road as the beatles put it .

The elections today is vastly based on caste politics . The main objective of the political party or a political leader is to get votes and not for the overall development of the nation or state. In the process of getting their votes political parties scarce realize that they are infact splitting the nation on the basis of caste . As a matter of fact , there is not one institute or organization in the India that i personally know of which rejects admission on the basis of caste. So if this the state of affairs , then i must question "Why have reservations on the basis of caste ?". If you so badly want to improve the condition of the people and work for a humanitarian cause , then have reservations basing on economic criterion. The only reason this has failed to happen is obviously because of the political parties and their obsession towards caste politics .

Democracy according to its principles (those laid out by Plato) clearly stated that it was for the peoples benefit. When these political parties play games like vote-bank politics , there is no development and the condition of the masses rarely improves . So now in this digitalised world, the only democracy left has to be the internet and yours and my blogs . But the problem arrises when such a democracy goes unnoticed to the world . After all , when money can do all the talking ...... why have such a failure by the name of democracy !!!!!!!!!
